Mad Men

I’m very late to the game, but the first season is On Demand, so why not? About to watch episode three now. My sense so far is that it is a very good show; one of the reasons I avoided it at first is that I wasn’t sure what could really happen. This line of thinking is mainly derived from the show’s public perception: “it’s the 60s, and everything’s so accurate!”

Anyway, I get the sense that the sexist, racist and pro-cigarette dialogue is somewhat exaggerated. Then, of course it is, that’s part of the show’s point. On the other hand, I’ve never been a big fan of shock value; indeed, I’m sure the shock value helped bring in some of the more casual viewers.
