US Morality

26May10

This poll was somewhat shocking to me. I assumed that in the last decade it was a significant minority that kept anti-gay legislation on the agenda, but most of the country had apparently had their back.

I think this says something about the people I’m around, but also my generation in general. This just won’t be an issue in the future, which in turn gives me hope that Christianism on the whole will be defeated. Certainly gay marriage has had some major victories in the last couple of years, and even the passage of Prop 8 helped mobilize equal rights activists.

The last reaction I have is that it’s amazing how quickly the attitudes actually changed. Most causes would kill for a 12 point swing in 9 years, let alone one that is opposed by religious fundamentalists. I’d be really curious to see a poll on why the attitudes changed.
